理化学研究所とＮＥＣは22日、スーパーコンピューター「京（けい）」をめぐる係争で和解が成立したと発表した。ＮＥＣが開発途中で撤退したことから理研は一部の投資が無駄になったなどとして損害賠償を求めていた。ＮＥＣが理研に２億円を支払うことで双方が合意した。
京の開発には当初、理研とＮＥＣ、日立製作所、富士通が参加していた。2009年５月、財務悪化を理由にＮＥＣと日立が撤退を表明した。
理研は10年７月にＮＥＣに対し、設計や建物に投じた費用約70億円のうちの一部が無駄になったとして損害賠償を求める民事調停を東京地裁に申し立てた。ＮＥＣも開発費の未払い分約８億円を支払うよう調停を申し立てた。
今回の和解で、京プロジェクトに関連するＮＥＣの知的財産権を、理研が無償で使えるようにもなった。
